    JetBlue airways baggage policy

Paying an extra fee at the airport? Though it might sound like a little inconvenience it can impact the flow of the rest of the journey. Baggage allowances can be really confusing, if you aren't aware of the JetBlue airways baggage policy. Before traveling with JetBlue Airlines read their guidelines that will help you pack wisely to avoid charges at the airport. This blog will cover the major baggage rules you should know before traveling with JetBlue Airlines.

    Understanding Carry-On Baggage Allowance

All JetBlue fare includes one personal item, however, it should fit under the seat in front of you. For instance, a laptop bag, purse or approved pet carrier. Passengers are allowed to bring one carry-on bag, subject to available overhead-bin space. This is applicable to all the fare types.

    • Carry-on bag: Must not exceed 22" L × 14" W × 9" H (55.88 × 35.56 × 22.86 cm), including wheels and handles.

    • Personal item: Must not exceed 17" L × 13" W × 8" H (43.2 × 33 × 20.32 cm).

    Checked Baggage Allowance for Travelers

    • Size: Bags exceeding 62 inches (157.48 cm) in total dimensions (length + width + height).
    • Weight: 50 pounds (22.68 kg) will incur additional fees for oversized or overweight baggage.

You may add up to two bags to your booking whenever you wish before you arrive at the airport.

Process of Adding Baggage to Your Reservation

According to JetBlue’s current “Adding Bags and Paying Fees” page, there are three main sections.

    1. Adding Bags After Making Your Booking

If your fare does not include checked baggage, you can add bags to your reservation before your flight departs:

    How to add a bag:

    • Visit JetBlue.com.
    • Go to Manage Trip.
    • Enter your trip details and open your reservation
    • Look for the Extras section.
    • Add a bag and pay any applicable fee.

    2. Adding Bags During Check-In

You can also add your checked bags when you check in for your flight. JetBlue policy baggage allows you to do this within 24 hours of departure.

How to add a bag during check-in:

    • You can start your check-in online at a JetBlue airport kiosk or, at the check-in counter.
    • Add the bags you plan to check.
    • Pay the applicable baggage fee.
    • If you check in online, go to the bag drop area when you arrive at the airport.
    • A JetBlue crewmember will scan your boarding document.
    • Your bag count and weight will be verified.

    3. Adding and Paying for Multiple Checked Bags

Follow this process to add bags:

    For your first bag:

    • Add it during booking or before check-in.
    • You can also pay for it online or at an airport kiosk during check-in.

    For your second bag:

    • Go to Manage Trips on JetBlue’s website.
    • Add it at an airport kiosk during check-in.

For your third bag or additional bags:

    • Go to the airport.
    • Visit the ticket counter.
    • Check in your additional baggage there and pay the applicable fees.

Arrive early at the airport since you need to have the bag weighed and pay the fee at the airport ticket counter.
